Dear Mayor:
What we witnessed yesterday in Washington is not how democracy works in the United States of America. We are better than this. Nothing can justify the
unacceptable actions and violence we've seen at the U.S. Capitol. My thoughts remain with the members of law enforcement and government officials at the Capitol today. I pray for their continued safety. We must move forward together as a country, continuing the work of preserving and perfecting this democracy for future generations.
Thank you for your leadership and support of democracy at the local level. I wish you a healthy and productive 2021.
