Manchester Gateway Trail (2014 LGAA)

Village of Manchester
County: Ontario County
Population: Less than 5,000
Village Hall: (585) 289-4340

The Village of Manchester's pedestrian/bicycle pathway project is the product of a collaborative local planning effort that included broad-based municipal and public participation.

The Village submitted a Transportation Enhancement Program application to the NYS DOT with an estimated $750K cost to construct this blueway trail and were awarded $607,924. It took 5 years to complete using shared work force with the Town of Manchester and numerous volunteers. Now the trail benefits are enjoyed through all seasons by all ages.

The multiple benefits to village residents, neighboring communities, school districts, and visitors include: an alternative transportation route and access benefits; safety benefits; environmental protection; local economic development; recreational benefits; property value enhancement; educational; and health benefits.

Though this project has been an additional park/trail area added to the Village appropriations, the expense is minimal considering the benefits. The enhancements are being provided through community volunteers and organizations.
