The Village of Port Chester, New York is accepting applications for the position of Village Manager until May 30, 2008.
Port Chester is located on the eastern shore of Westchester County and has a population of approximately 28,000 people living in approximately 2.5 square miles. This village is part of the New York City metropolitan area. It is approximately 25 miles from midtown Manhattan and can be reached in 39 minutes by direct commuter rail.
Port Chester's location makes it an ideal place to live, do business and to entertain. The Village boasts 50 acres of parkland, easy access to all major highways, a good public school system and is renowned as 'The Restaurant Capital of Westchester'. The historic charm of Port Chester is highlighted by its turn-of-the-century architecture and refurbished Victorian homes.
The Village Government consists of a 7-member Board of Trustees including a Mayor. Port Chester is a full service community with a budget of 34.2M and a staff of approximately 150 employees.
The Board seeks an individual who has successfully demonstrated pro-active problem solving skills. The Board is seeking someone who is willing to commit to the Village for the long term (7-10 years) to enable him or her to build alliances and relationships that deliver economic stability to the region. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with the elected leadership in translating Board policy and plans into actions, and developing administrative leadership mechanisms that encourage public participation in the growth and redevelopment of the community. BA/BS with Masters in Public Administration preferred and a minimum of 5-years municipal management experience is required.
The salary range is $150,000 - $195,000, plus car and benefits, Salary dependent on experience and negotiation. The successful candidate will negotiate an employment contract. Residency is not required.
